About Vini Kjekshus
Oslo, Norway
Biography
Creativity quickly became part of his identity, he was the kid who was always drawing, observing, and finding his own way to express the world around him.
In 2017, Vini moved to Norway, a shift that marked a significant turning point. The cultural and social contrast led him into a more introspective phase, where he began to observe people closely, their expressions, their silences, the subtleties in how they connect and disconnect. This curiosity shaped both his artistic voice and his interest in psychology and philosophy, forming the foundation of his visual language today.
Vini's work centres on emotion and human interaction. He is drawn to the unspoken, body language, glances, tension, comfort, and the space between individuals. His paintings are textured, raw and intuitive, reflecting both vulnerability and boldness.
He began painting during the pandemic, experimenting with found materials and quickly developing a distinctive expression influenced at first by Basquiat, and later by memory, identity and lived experience. A formative artistic memory comes from childhood: watching natural pigments being made directly from fruit, revealing to him the closeness between art and life. Since then, Vini has created more than 150 works across mediums such as wood panels, canvas, markers, acrylic and spray paint. His practice also extends into clothing and visual storytelling, blending art with design and personal expression. Alongside his artistic work, he produces visual content professionally, while continuing to develop his studio practice. For Vini, art is a language, a way to translate inner experiences into something visible, something others can recognize themselves in. His work invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and feel.
